This year, TIF HELEXPO honors the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF), an institution born in April 1925, when its visionary, Nikolaos Germanos, proposed the creation of the first International Fair of Thessaloniki. An initiative that radically transformed the post-war landscape of the city and set a new course of development for the whole of Greece.
A century later, TIF remains a vibrant point of reference for the economy, politics, and culture, and the indelible mark of its historic journey is passed on as a dynamic “baton” into the next hundred years, bequeathing the country a valuable legacy.
As part of this centennial celebration, the 89th TIF invites its visitors to embark on an “eternal map of memory,” with landmarks that illuminate the milestones of its history.
With the help of a QR Code, the journey extends throughout the entire exhibition center and beyond, unveiling stories that transform the experience into an interactive challenge, as the public actively participates, learns, plays, discovers, enjoys, and wins through rich contests and prize draws.
As part of the events celebrating TIF’s 100 Years, visitors have the opportunity to explore a thematic exhibition dedicated to the institution’s long history, housed in Pavilion 16. In the same space, they can also enjoy a special screening of the historical documentary “TIF. 100 Years from Ground Zero”, which is dedicated to the creation of TIF, the role of the individuals who established it, and the pioneering exhibitors who participated in and supported the first Thessaloniki International Fair in 1926.
