Meeting between the Mayor of Leipzig, Mr Burkhard Jung, and the TIF-Helexpo management

The exhibition agency awarded him an honorary plaque for his contribution to the success  of Germany’s participation as the Honoured Country of the 88th TIF

The Mayor of Leipzig, Mr Burkhard Jung, met with TIF-HELEXPO management today, as he is currently in Thessaloniki with a delegation on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the twinning of the two cities.  The visit to TIF-HELEXPO management follows the participation of Germany in the 88th TIF as the Honoured Country, a participation organised by the Leipzig Exhibition Organisation.

Besides the mayor of Leipzig, other German participants in the meeting included the director of the Leipzig Book Fair, Ms Astrid Böhmisch, in the context of the tightening of ties with the Thessaloniki International Book Fair, as well as the mayor’s adviser, Dr Sabine Willenberg.

Mr Burkhard Jung invited TIF-HELEXPO management to visit Leipzig and for the two sides to share exhibition experiences, while he referred to the redevelopment of the Thessaloniki International Exhibition Centre — which he had been informed about by the exhibition agency — stressing that it is a great opportunity for the city.

Ms Astrid Böhmisch noted that the Leipzig Book Fair was one of the biggest events in the city.

TIF-HELEXPO President Tasos Tzikas underlined the success of the German participation in 88th TIF, stressing that it was organised by the Leipzig Exhibition Organisation, while he expressed the will of TIF-HELEXPO to continue the partnership between the two sides.
In fact, together with the company’s CEO, Dr Kyriakos Pozrikidis, they informed the mayor of Leipzig on the redevelopment of the Thessaloniki International Exhibition Centre, as well as the long history of the TIF.

During the visit, TIF-HELEXPO management presented the mayor with a catalogue from the Leipzig International Fair of 1961, which had been attended by the Thessaloniki International Fair, and they awarded him with an honorary plaque for his significant contribution to the success of Germany’s participation as the Honoured Country of the 88th TIF.
