The 89th anniversary edition of the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) kicked off in the best way possible, with an impressive turnout of visitors over the weekend. Last night, in addition to the lunar eclipse, the Thessaloniki sky was lit up by the Light Drone Show, featuring luminous messages marking the 100-year anniversary of TIF-HELEXPO.
From the very first weekend, AutoThessaloniki, the thematic tribute to the automotive sector, has emerged as one of the highlights of the 89th TIF, with impressive car models and numerous first-time appearances drawing visitors’ attention. Motorsport and the automobile world are also in the spotlight thanks to a special attraction the McLaren Formula 1 Team’s race car brought to the Fair by OPAP, member of the Allwyn Group, which has already become a major magnet for attendees. Beyond the rare chance to be photographed next to the F1 car, motorsport fans can also take part in a variety of interactive activities, such as testing their skills on Formula 1 simulators, posing in a creative photobooth while virtually wearing a McLaren pilot’s suit, trying face painting in the iconic papaya color, and participating in other interactive games.
Another major attraction is the Akademia thematic area, which bridges the gap between the education community and the general public, connecting innovation with everyday life. Pavilion 17 hosts everything from cutting-edge scientific research developments to strategies for boosting the international outreach of universities and improving employment opportunities.
This afternoon at 18:30, as part of the 100-year anniversary celebrations of TIF-HELEXPO, the documentary by "Chronos Machine", titled "TIF. 100 Years from Ground Zero", will be screened in Pavilion 16. The commemorative activities for the exhibition body's centennial, both in Pavilion 16 and across various exhibition areas, are drawing great interest from visitors.
At 19:00, the Region of Crete will treat guests to traditional local dishes in Pavilion 6, as part of the "Flavors of Greece" theme. Yesterday, the Region of Peloponnese impressed visitors with its unique tastes.
For the fourth year running, the Regulatory Authority for Energy, Waste and Water (RAAΕY) is organizing a fun and educational game for young and older visitors alike: the Climate Neutrality Bowling. From 16:00 to 22:00, in the specially arranged outdoor space of Pavilion 10, players can use a bowling ball to strike pins each representing one of the goals of climate neutrality.
Also tonight at 19:00, in the open-air TIF Gardens, as part of JuniorLand, young visitors will have the chance to enjoy the theatrical performance “Recycling Means...”, which focuses on the importance of recycling.
At 21:30 on the Music Events Live stage, under the YMCA Arch, Pyx Lax, the legendary Greek rock band that has left its mark on the local music scene, will take to the stage, ready to lead audiences through their beloved rock soundscapes. Concerts are free to attend with a valid entrance ticket to the 89th TIF.
On the Youth Band Battle - Stage Z, located in the outdoor area between Pavilions 9 & 13, the band Rock4 will perform at 19:00 and Grain Of Human at 20:00.
Yesterday, at Music Events Live, Lena Zevgara and Alcatrash kicked off the concert program with a dynamic show that energized the crowd. On the Youth Band Battle - Stage Z, from 19:00 to 21:00, the bands BizBize, Viceroy, Kondalilla, Limp, and Longshots performed.
Today’s opening hours for the 89th TIF are from 16:00 to 22:00.
